Hi,

I've been playing with a talking freeview recorder from Tvonics and am quite happy with the results. It features 2 tuners (Watch one program whilst recording another), a 500GB Hard Drive, audio description, a 7 day EPG and quite a bit more - the only part that is inaccessible is the iPlayer feature.

Tvonics have recently gone into administration which has caused prices on these units to plummit, so now is actually a great time to buy one of these units if you're in the UK and want a really nice TV solution. There are a few things to bare in mind though:

Make sure the place you buy it from will honour the warranty - E.G. you can return the box to them as opposed to Tvonics.
Make sure you buy one of the 500GB models since the TTS hasn't been released for the 250GB ones.
The difference between the 2 500GB models is mainly visual; one has curves and a front display whilst the other one is a fairly normal box, has no front display and uses a fan.
Initial setup is inaccessible, but you may be able to get the seller / company to enable the TTS for you before they ship it.

Tvonics worked with the RNIB on this but the result is surprisingly good; there is some lag which probably won't be fixed, but its not slow enough to stop you from wanting to use the box.

I'm happy to answer any questions that people may have about these units.

Cheers.
